Alan is a Chartered Accountant with more than three decades experience largely in the oil and gas industry. Alan worked at Woodside across several roles for more than 20 years and prior to that worked in London and Moscow with BP. He commenced his audit career with Touche Ross in Perth and worked in the Sydney and Atlanta offices. Alan enjoys working in cooperative, close knit teams to deliver excellent results. He is passionate about coaching and mentoring team members and developing strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Alan has significant experience in Joint Venture audits, both as an auditor and co-ordinating audits on behalf of the Operator for companies including Woodside, ExxonMobil and Santos. Alan has comprehensive knowledge of joint venture accounting, joint operating agreements, incorporated joint ventures, production and maintenance costing methodologies and vendor contracts. Through his involvement in the financial management of the largest projects in Australia including the North West Shelf and Pluto, Alan developed considerable skill and experience in applying cost allocation methodologies and timewriting. This includes the application of SAP as the system for delivering these processes.
Alan has a deep understanding of production and maintenance functions and their activities. This is invaluable knowledge in the context of Joint Venture audits in helping to effectively plan and identify risk areas and to understand Operator’s processes and the implications for the expenditure charged to the project.
In his spare time, you will find him walking through a bush trail or watching the Fremantle Dockers or Bullcreek Bombers.
